Padmote for iPad and Mac | Last updated: September 22, 2026
Overview
Padmote is a screen annotation tool that connects your iPad to your Mac over a local network. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the app accesses and how it is used.
Subscriptions and Usage
Apple processes subscription payments. We use RevenueCat to validate purchases, restore access, and measure subscription and paywall performance. RevenueCat processes purchase history, a random app identifier, paywall interactions, onboarding progress, and your selected use case. The random app identifier is stored on your iPad so free access and purchases stay with you if you reinstall Padmote. It is not linked to your name or email address. Padmote does not require an account or email address, and we do not receive your payment card details.
Optional Feature Requests
If you send a feature request, we store your message, app version, submission time, and a random request identifier in our private Supabase database. No email address is required. Please leave personal information out of your message.
To limit abuse, our submission service derives a daily keyed hash from the connection IP address. The feature request database stores this hash rather than your raw IP address. Infrastructure providers may process IP addresses in operational logs. Requests are accessible to authorized administrators and are used to plan and improve Padmote.
Optional Creator Codes
If you enter a creator code, we store the code and your random app identifier in our private Supabase database. RevenueCat sends us purchase, renewal, and refund records for that identifier so we can pay the creator a share of your subscription. Creators see only totals. We never share your identity with them.
Local Network Communication
Padmote discovers and pairs nearby devices using Apple's Multipeer Connectivity framework. Drawing and control data travel over encrypted local connections between your iPad and Mac, either on your local network or through a USB-C cable. Drawing and control messages are not sent to our cloud services. Subscription validation, optional feature requests, and optional creator codes use the internet.
Data Stored on Device
The app stores the following preferences locally on your iPad using Apple's standard UserDefaults:
- Selected drawing color
- Brush size and opacity
- Last used tool
- Onboarding progress, tool-wheel configuration, toolbar colors, and canvas preferences
- Saved overlays and their canvas appearance
- An unfinished feature request draft, until sent or cleared
- Connection diagnostics (timing and connection events only, never drawing content) kept on each device and never uploaded
Preferences stay on your device. A feature request draft is sent only when you tap Send Request. Local data can be deleted by removing the app.
Permissions
- Local Network (iPad and Mac): Required to discover and connect to the Mac companion app on your Wi-Fi network.
- Accessibility (Mac): Required to move the cursor and inject mouse events when using cursor mode from your iPad.
- Bluetooth (optional): An opt-in nearby pointer backup may request Bluetooth access. Complete drawing data continues over Wi-Fi.
Third-Party Services
Padmote uses Apple for payments, RevenueCat for subscription management and analytics, and Supabase to receive and store optional feature requests and creator code records. We do not use this information for cross-app advertising tracking.
Children's Privacy
The feature request form is intended for adults, including teachers and administrators. Please do not submit information about children or students.
